Simply plug PG Key into any USB port when it’s OK for your protected user to be on the computer and take it out when it’s not. No work will be lost when PG Key is removed. The screen merely fades to gray and access is suspended until PG Key is plugged in again. From this screen you can also choose to log on as a different user.

PG Key has partnered its technology with Google’s safe search feature. When PG Key is plugged in, The PG Key Safe Search website will be set as the default home page. Your protected user should be guided to originate all searches from this site. If you have other tool bars installed on your protected user’s computer, you should remove them to prevent accidental use.



It’s recommended, but not required, that you use Internet Explorer version 7 or higher. This will set the search bar at the top of the page to use the PG Key safe search settings. If you need assistance with any of these settings, our tech support staff is standing by to help.

Note – many web sites have search functions that will not be subject to the same filtering provided by Google and PG key. It’s important to show your protected user the safe search locations. And remember, all of your protected user’s actions are recorded. You can review their activity in order to teach responsible web searching.

While PG Key is in, all protected user activity on the primary monitor is recorded. If your system has 2 or more monitors, protected users should perform Internet activities from the primary monitor. To view this recording, launch the PG Key viewer located in the PG Key program folder, or insert PG Key into any other computer. You’ll be asked for your password.

Operating the PG Key viewer is as easy as using a DVD player. The video can be played in real time, fast-forwarded, or scanned using a variety of play back options. You can also “text search” the video by typing a word or phrase into the search bar at the top of the screen and clicking the “go” button. If the word you entered was typed by your protected user, you will be taken to the moment in the recording where it occurred.

PG Key will hold up to 60 hours of recorded computer activity depending on your settings. Once PG Key is reaches its capacity, the oldest video is replaced by the newest so that you always see the most recent activity.

To use this feature, you must first activate your PG Key. Click here to activate now, and follow the instructions.

PG Key must be activated from the protected users PC.

Once PG Key is activated, Administrative functions can be performed from any PC by using the PG Key Manager. From the PGkey.com website, sign in with your secure account. Select PG Key Manager from the admin window on the member’s page.

Use the wizard feature at the top of the options list to get started.

All blocking and notification options can be modified from the manager utility at any time. This can be done from the protected user’s computer, or from any other system with Internet access.

System administrators, by definition, are allowed the ability to manually stop and start services. If you installed PG Key to protect an account with administrator privileges, you may want to either create a new account for your protected user, or reduce their rights. This is an important step if you suspect your protected user will attempt to disable or deactivate PG Key.

From the PG Key task bar icon, click and select Options. Choose Select protected users and follow instructions on the screen. And remember, all of your protected user’s actions are recorded. You can review their activity to teach responsible use of the PC. Any attempt a protected user makes to bypass or disable PG Key will show up on the recording.
